Arrests in Jill Carroll Kidnapping

The story of three arrests in the Jill Carroll hostage crisis came out last week when I was sick and I somehow overlooked posting on it. The story is now four days old, and, despite the arrests, Carroll's fate remains unknown. We pray she is safe from the hands of the bastards holding her.

Macsmind has the details.

New Hostage Video of Four Western Peace Activists

four_peace_activists_hostage_new_video.jpgA new video has emerged of four Western peace activists being held hostage in Iraq. The hostages are: Norman Kember, 74, of England; Canadians James Loney, 41, and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32; and American Tom Fox, 54. Background information on the four peace activists held hostage in Iraq can be found here.

The video is a very bad sign. While al Jazeera chose not to air the audio from it, the video is said to demand the release of all Iraqi prisoners or the four Western hostages will be murdered. Up to this point, speculation has abounded that the 'Swords of Righteousness Brigade', the organization behind the hostage crisis, was a criminal organization interested in ransoming the hostages for money.

However, The Jawa Report was the first media outlet to reveal the 'The Swords of Righteousness Brigade' may be a front for the radical Islamist terror organization, The Islamic Army in Iraq. Analysts working for major MSM outlets later confirmed our initial reports.

The Islamic Army in Iraq has murdered foreign hostages in the past, including Italian Red Cross worker Enzo Baldoni, and has worked with Abu Musab al Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq in the past.

More recent reports indicate that The Islamic Army in Iraq (IAI) has broken any ties it had with al Qaeda. There is even some indication that IAI and al Qaeda are openly fighting in some areas.

Thanks to George for sending this link LTV:

Al-Jazeera television broadcast the video Saturday showing the four hostages standing against a wall. The four have been held hostage since November 26, 2005 and is the only evidence of the four peace workers still being alive after the first deadline passed in early December.

The kidnappers, a group calling themselves the Swords of Righteousness, believe the men were spying for U.S.-led forces and threatened to kill them if Iraqis were not released from U.S. and Iraqi prisons.

The group issued a statement saying this was the "last chance" for authorities to release all Iraqi prisoners or "the hostages will be killed."

Suicide is Painless...

In a particularly lugubrious piece for the LA Times, breathlessly entitled, "Witch Hunt at UCLA", English professor Saree Makdisi whines:

My colleagues and I are being targeted for speaking out on the kinds of urgent social matters and universal principles that it has always — in every society and every age — been the task of intellectuals to address.
This sounds admirable and important.

What kind of "urgent social matters" and "universal principles" does Dr. Makdisi address? Many of them seem to be similar to this: more...

Non-Scandal Scandal #3450834

Duh.

Look, maybe it's the 14,084 Ann Rule type crime books I've read, or the 105,799,409,849 newspaper recorded accounts of criminal investigations I've seen, but detaining family members of suspects is unremarkably routine in our own country.

So the wives of terrorists are being taken in and held for questioning.

This is remarkable? This is a story? This is somehow different from Ted Bundy's girlfriend being subjected to hours upon hours of interrogation? No, a wife cannot be compelled to testify in court against her husband, but that doesn't mean they aren't held for questioning in the course of an investigation.

Yet, suddenly, in the middle of a war, the bar gets raised, when it should be lowered. These women talked about in the article hitched their wagons to terrorists. They aid, abet, and support the slaughter of innocent people.

The media expects us to weep for them?

But this is the money line. The part of the story that lit the match under my scrotum:

The documents are among hundreds the Pentagon has released periodically under U.S. court order to meet an American Civil Liberties Union request for information on detention practices.

What the f*** is a U.S. court doing ordering the f***ing Pentagon to release documents related to anything anywhere when we are in the middle of a war?

Since when is the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union privy to what our military is doing with prisoners who are not American citizens and not residing in this country and who are our enemies doing everything they can to kill as many Americans as possible?

When one of our military members, or civilian hostages, or workers over there dies in an IED explosion, isn't that the ultimate violation of their American civil liberties?

I was born in 1967. Stories like this make me wish I had been born in 1907. If this were 1946, and I were the age I am now, I wouldn't have 30 yards of duct tape wrapped around my head to keep it from exploding when I read news of the war.

Warnings of Impending Suicide Attack in Denmark

The Glory Brigades in Northern Europe are now threatening suicide attacks in Denmark. The originals can be seen and downloaded at Infovlad who has them archived. A rough translation of the warning from an Islamic forum can be seen at Tracking al Qaeda.

The Glory Brigades of Northern Europe have threatened terrorist actions in both Sweden and Denmark in the past. The current threats are being made in retalliation for cartoons appearing in Danish papers which are said to be offensive to Muslims.

I wonder how many Christian fundamentalists have threatened to blow themselves up in New York over Kanye West's portrayal of Christ in Rolling Stone?

I was born a poor black child: The Rusty Shackleford Autobiography

An excerpt from my soon te be released autobiography:

My life as the son of a sharecropper was no picnic. In town there was always the worry that Boss Hogg and the powers that be would take some offense and confiscate what little we had to themselves under the perversity that was Jim Crow.

And home was no better. Emasculated by a system that drained by father of all that was manly dignity, he found his only solace was the bottle. And when my father drank, he was mean. Real mean.

Is it true? Does it really matter? It sounds true.

And if Timothy P. Barrus, a white guy from Lansing, Michigan, can win awards for writing about growing up on the Navajo Reservation, why can't I shoot for the same? He's pretty much my new hero, anyhow. Except for the gay porn thing. Can't say that I know enough about that to make up a true sounding story.

Hat tip to Confederate Yankee for the e-mail.

Crack Dealer Hands Out Business Cards

Life imitating Chappelle.

Belch has the details:

He said police had heard for some time that Williams had been selling drugs in the area. “Then we heard that he was handing out business cards,” the officer said. “In the course of our investigation we were fortunate to come up with one, and we gave him a call.”

Kitchens said the business card had an image of what appeared to be an alarm clock being hit by a boxing glove and said: “For a quick hit on time call the boss.”

“When he answered, we agreed to buy some crack from him, we went up there, and we arrested him,” Kitchens said.

This Is Just Wrong On So Many Levels

From the Associated Press:

An Italian judge heard arguments Friday on whether a small-town parish priest should stand trial for asserting that Jesus Christ existed.

The priest's atheist accuser, Luigi Cascioli, says the Roman Catholic Church has been deceiving people for 2,000 years with a fable that Christ existed, and that the Rev. Enrico Righi violated two Italian laws by reasserting the claim.

Okay, I know that Italy has become a cesspool of neo-communists, terrorist sympathizers and other assorted pinheads and kooks, but come on.

Australia Cracks Down on Rioters, Unless They're Muslim

Remember those Australian race riots last month? Well it seems that it was the official policy of certain provincial governments to crack down on all of the white kids, but to let Muslim youths engaged in the same activities go free.

Ghost of a Flea sends me this story from The Australian:

UNTIL just over a week ago, not one alleged revenge attacker [Muslims] in the wake of last month's race riot in southern Sydney had been charged, despite the charging of up to 30 white men over the initial affray.

He claimed the state Labor Government of Premier Morris Iemma had encouraged police to go soft on revenge attackers, most thought to be Middle Eastern, because of what he called Labor's political correctness....

Iemma and Moroney still say the police have not been soft on Middle Eastern crime. But the evidence suggests otherwise. A notorious police document outlines how, the night after the Sunday riots, "numerous vehicles were sighted congregated in the vicinity of Punchbowl Park [in Sydney's inner southwest]".

"These vehicles and the crowd that had been gathered were suspected to be Middle Eastern criminals who have been involved in malicious damage and civil disobedience offences throughout the Sutherland Shire and St George areas," the document says. "A direction was given to police around midnight not to enter the area and antagonise these persons."

The last thing we need is for all those hot Australian sheilas to start wearing burkas!

Video Emerges of Two German Hostages in Iraq

Al Jazeera has broadcast a video of two German engineers taken hostage in Iraq. As reported earlier on The Jawa Report, the names of the two German hostages are Thomas Wischke and Rebiti Drata (transliterated from Arab reports). Their correct names are Thomas Nitzschke and Rene Braeunlich. We will link to the video as soon as we find it. Please e-mail us via the Contact link above if you have any information on the video.

Al Jazeera:

Two German hostages held in Iraq have appealed to their government to help secure their release, in a video aired by Aljazeera.

The two German engineers, who disappeared in northern Iraq on Tuesday, were shown on their knees in front of four kidnappers on the video shown by the television station on Friday.

The tape was dated 24 January, the day they were abducted in the northern industrial city of Beiji, about 240km north of Baghdad.

The hostages, identified by relatives as Thomas Nitzschke and Rene Braeunlich, arrived in Iraq on 22 January.

The German Foreign Ministry said the two only planned to remain in Iraq "for a short time".

They were working for a German company which has a commercial relationship with an Iraqi government-owned detergent company.

In Berlin, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German Foreign Minister, said on Friday that contact had been established with the kidnappers.

"The first contact was made by the kidnappers," Steinmeier told RTL television.

He described the pictures as "shocking".

Earlier, Gernot Erler, the Deputy Foreign Minister, told ARD television that a ministry crisis unit "is working constantly to save the two engineers."

We pray for their speedy release.

ACLU Hearts Terrorists

Steve Emerson of the Counterterrorism Blog:

The American Civil Liberties Union has sent a letter (Acrobat) to Department of Justice calling for the dismissal of the remaining charges against former University of South Florida professor Sami al-Arian. Citing Al-Arian’s acquittal on 8 of the 17 charges against him, the ACLU claims that since “the two most serious charges” were thrown out, that al-Arian should be set free, and that such a move would demonstrate that the United States “welcomes religious and ethnic diversity.”
But there's more:
PIJ is not the only Palestinian terrorist group to find its way onto the ACLUÂ’s docket.

Earlier this month, the ACLU filed an amicus brief on behalf of Abdelhaleem Ashqar, an alleged Hamas operative indicted on racketeering charges along with Hamas’ deputy political chief, Musa Abu Marzook. The ACLU is attempting to suppress evidence by claiming that the FBI conducted an “illegal” search of Ashqar’s home in December 1993.

Stop the ACLU:
The ACLU have opposed every effort our government has tried to fight terrorism, and has defended the enemy at every chance they get. The ACLU carefully walk the line of treason. Many of us think they have crossed that line, and we are sick and tired of nothing being done about it.
Indeed. Via Hyscience.

Taliban Attacks Afghan Girls' School

(Kabul) The Taliban has been intensifying its campaign against girls' schools.

From Xinhuanet.com:

Suspected Taliban militants set fire on a girls school Thursday night in Afghan eastern province of Laghman, a local police said.

"Last night at about 12 p.m. (8:30 p.m. GMT) some suspected Taliban militants blazed a girls school in Haidar area, but there is no casualty of school staff," Hizbullah, the spokesperson of the governor told Xinhua.

The spokesperson blamed Taliban to carry out this kind of attack, and said the investigation is still going on.

According to some reliable resources, four school staff have been kidnapped by the militants, but the spokesperson denied.

There are no details about the four hostages.

In the southern Kandahar Province where the Taliban previously had a stronghold, attempts to intimidate teachers and students at girls' schools have been ongoing. With these attacks against women, I wonder how in the world the feminists can consistently come out against the global war on terror. Logic would indicate that women's rights advocates should be first in line to support the Bush administration and its efforts to defeat the Taliban and other terror groups.

Jimmy Carter Advocating Criminal Acts?

From The Jerusalem Post:

"The Palestinian Government is destitute, and in desperate financial straits. I hope that support for the new government will be forthcoming," Carter said at a Jerusalem press conference.

Carter, who has long supported the participation of Hamas in the Palestinian elections, voiced the hope that the Islamic terror group would act "responsibly" now that it had won the elections.

Isn't President Peanut just the soul of kindness, at least when it comes to coddling terrorists? Unfortunately, as I pointed out earlier here, it's illegal for Americans to provide "material support or resources" to designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations. And Hamas is so designated by the State Department. more...

40 Seconds? But I want it now!

No, I'm not ignoring you, I've been sick. For the past 48 hours I haven't been able to keep any food down. Then suddenly, my appetite came back. So much so that I think I could eat an entire flash fried buffalo. And no, I can't wait 40 seconds.

I should be back to normal tomorrow.

On post-Weimar Hamas

Abbas [singing]: Oh Hamas! You repaid my abuse with raw hatred. But I need you today. Oh Hamas! When you blew up some Jews and you framed me. So they locked me away...

Maybe it's my recent re-reading of Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich talking, but someone stop me if I am crazy in seeing a few hard and fast similarities between Hamas and the late-1920s/early-1930s Nazi Party:

- both elected during times of minimal government control of the territory and in an area with a "poor" economic prospects, at best

- both groups gained fame as organizations for street thugs through open and unabashed violence

- both love a good outdoor ralley with pretty flags, weapons, and nationalistic chanting

- both love artistic posters in public places

- both appealed to the population with the promotion of territorial unification and seeking retribution against the Jews

- both were hoped to be "toned down" through elections and elevation within democratic offices, as world leaders rationalized that previous thuggish activities could never play well from a ruling government

Then again, there is one dissimilarity that really hits me. In November 1932, the last election before Hitler became Chancellor and the Nazis truly solidified power, the NSDAP only had 33.6% of parlimentary seats (down from the previous July, in which the Nazi held their greatest Weimar-era seat percentage at 37.8%). It seems that Hamas picked up about 57.5% of seats, with 76 out of 132.

I'm just sayin', is all.
